DaSilva, Leon R. of Marshfield, formerly of Woodside, New York, September 9, 2012 at the age of 91. Loving father of Maureen McDonald and her husband Joseph of Marshfield, David DaSilva and his wife Sarajean of New York City, Doreen Costello and her husband James of Randolph, NJ, Leon DaSilva and his wife Julie of Staten Island, NY and the late John DaSilva. Loving grandfather of 10 and great grandfather of 9. Son of the late John and Josephine (Lopes) DaSilva. Brother of the late Lucille DelPrado, Leonie Brook and Lancelot DaSilva. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Leon was born in Georgetown, British Guyana. He served as a United States Merchant Marine during WWII. Leon worked as a self employed real estate developer. He received an Honorary Doctorate degree from St. John’s University. Leon was a resident of New York for over 50 years before moving to Marshfield last year.
Visiting hours will be held at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St. Rte 139, Marshfield on Friday, September 14, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral from the Funeral Home on Saturday, September 15 at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Ann by the Sea Church, 591 Ocean St. at 10:00 a.m.
Interment in Couch Cemetery.
